Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Mechanical Process Engineering Discipline Lead to provide technical and operational leadership for the Mechanical Process Department in the Water Business Line, Chelmsford, MA office.
The department consists of Professional Engineers, Engineers-in-Training (EIT/FE) and Designers under the direction of the Department Head as part of the A/E Design Center, a full-service organization delivering architectural and engineering design services for water and wastewater infrastructure throughout the world.
The position will be focused on providing the operational and technical guidance for the locally based team with additional staff located around the world performing the Mechanical Process Design of water, wastewater, and associated infrastructure. This senior leadership role will provide technical guidance and develop guidelines to be utilized by AECOM Mechanical Process Engineers worldwide. Operationally, the position will be responsible for developing the level of effort required to perform work, monitor budget and progress toward completion, and provide leadership and mentorship to the group as part of an overall managerial role.
Typical projects include the design and renovations to existing water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities; water, wastewater, and wet weather flow control and pump stations; mechanical systems associated with dams, levees, and flood control barriers; and related ancillary systems. Additional project and non-project duties will require research into equipment and system design including emerging technologies, coordination with vendors; the development of technical specifications; engineering services during construction for both design-bid-build and design-build projects; and participation in AECOM Technical Practice Groups (TPG) related to Process Mechanical Engineering.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
8 years of experience in design and layout of mechanical process piping, valves, equipment, etc. within the water and wastewater industry.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain within six months.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing technical and operations leadership and mentoring of junior-level staff.
15+ years of experience in design and layout of mechanical process piping, valves, equipment, etc. within the water and wastewater industry.
Active participation in Hydraulic Institute (HI) Standards Committees.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and REVIT.
Demonstrated ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations; experience in a similar role, and a history of applying passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment.
Experienced, self-directed professional with a strong attention to detail and accuracy of work.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $155,000.00 - $200,000.00.
