Job Summary

The Financial Planning Consultant serves as a key financial, individual contributor within the FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) department. The position will be own and maintain the cost allocation model for the organization. This position will play an active role in supporting monthly close activities as well as budgeting and forecasting through standard and ad-hoc reporting of allocation results. This position will report to the Director of FP&A and will lead the function of managing the full life cycle of allocations and providing insights to both Finance and business leaders.

Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

  • Own and maintain the cost allocation model in Oracle PCMCS (Profitability and Cost Management Cloud Solution).

  • Provide standard and ad-hoc reporting on actual vs budget and actual vs forecast allocation results.

  • Steward data validation and data integrity efforts and initiatives for reporting conformity.

  • Manage the overall allocation process, including the collection of annual cost allocation surveys, guidance on cost drivers, and assessments of improvement opportunities with a keen eye towards efficiency and transparency.

  • Develop timely what-if analysis of proposed allocation change to guide decision making process.

  • Liaise with Accounting on monthly journal entries, analyses, and quarterly/annual filings that utilize allocation data.

  • Other FP&A duties and projects as assigned, not limited to actual vs budget analysis, risks and opportunities assessments, and business support.

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

Education, Certification and Licensure

Bachelor’s degree of accounting/finance required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience (minimum years required) :

  • 5+ years of relevant finance/accounting work, preferably in a healthcare environment.

  • Experience in working in fast paced, matrixed environment

  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles

  • Experience with Oracle PCMCS is required

Skill Requirements

  • Systems Savvy- comfortability in navigating different systems, understanding data flows, and consolidating large data sets.

  • Communicates effectively to both Finance and Non-Finance professionals in explaining results in a concise, transparent manner.

  • Deep understanding of cost accounting/allocation principles and methodologies.

  • Ability to work cross functionally with Accounting, the extended Finance team, and the Business to explain results and run analyses.

  • Process improvement- champion process improvement efforts and take initiative to question the status quo for efficiency gains.

  • Strong attention to detail.

Working Conditions and Additional Requirements (include special requirements, e.g., lifting, travel) :

  • Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.

  • Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.

  • May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.
