The Bank of Canton Accounting Supervisor in Canton, Massachusetts

Bachelors Degree preferred. * Prior banking industry and relevant work experience required (7+ years preferable) * Good working knowledge of Fiserv Core and Prologue accounting systems, MS Windows, Excel, Word, and comfortable using new software packages. * Strong interpersonal skills. Specific Job Functions: * Process all investment purchases, sales, interest income payments, principal payments and investment maturities for the Bank and Securities Corporation portfolios. * Ensure correct settlement of purchases and sales and maintain the reconciliations of the investment portfolios and safekeeping reports. * Prepare month-end calculations and entries, including interest accruals, amortization/accretion and market values. * Prepare all month-end reports and other supporting schedules used for board reporting, regulatory and other investment reporting, and internal and external audit as needed. Complete or supervise annual or quarterly regulatory and tax filings including 945, 1099, DIF, abandoned property and payroll and taxes. * Supervise Accounts Payable process and manage Accounting Clerk. * Supervise Staff Accountant daily work. * Daily reconciliations to include Federal Reserve account, accounts monitored through Check Reconciliation System (money orders, cashiers\' checks, accounts payable, PDO, and Christmas Club). * Monitor correspondent bank activity and transfer funds as needed between accounts. Maintain and reconcile FHLB Idealway accounts. Assist with processing and monitoring wire transfer activity. Manage correspondent bank activity and facilitates foreign wire process. Posts payroll and other activity to the general ledger. * Active contributor to annual budget process and actual to budget analysis. * Post various journal entries and transactions including payroll, withholding taxes and related adjustments. * Review all general ledger activity and approve or obtain approval for all manual entries into Prologue. * Primary liaison between Accounting Dept. and other bank departments for investigating transaction processing errors. * Prepare and submit quarterly collateral for pledged assets to the FHLB and FRB and assist Controller in identifying and seeking approval for additional collateral. * Assist with preparation of various spreadsheets and schedules for quarterly Call Report, monthly internal meetings and annual audit requirements. * Review or maintain the updates of all loan rate indices on Fiserv core systems. * Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts and internal bank accounts and communicate with departments on outstanding items. Monitor completion of all monthly general ledger reconciliations and elevate stale-dated items as appropriate. * In conjunction with the CFO and VP/Controller, assist with managing the evolution of the Bank\'s financial information system, including identification of areas to improve efficiency. * Attend seminars and classes necessary to acquire the latest information on banking business and regulations. * Act as back-up to the other staff to ensure that the Department can continue essential functions in their absence.
