Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Associate’s Degree.
Experience working in a dental practice as a hygienist, assistant, sterilization tech, or materials tech).
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, in the English language.
Ability to engage, train, and mentor staff using a variety of managerial skills with desire to continuously develop and enhance this skillset.
Ability to set a positive example and engage in day-to-day responsibilities with professionalism and consistency.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, customer service skills, and keyboarding skills.
Ability to prioritize work and effectively balance multiple tasks, often with competing deadlines.
Ability to work full-time, onsite.
Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check at hire.

Oversees the sterilization team; responsible for ensuring proper daily staffing, assigning work, training and supporting staff, performance management, conducting employee evaluations, adjusting the team workflow to meet clinical practice needs, ensuring compliance with infection control and safety standards, and serving as the point-person to address sterilization complaints and concerns.
Ensures sterilization procedures meet regulatory requirements, such as those outlined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Accurately oversees inventory management; maintains accurate and timely records; identifies opportunities for improvement to relevant processes and procedures, and implements appropriately.
Conducts daily and weekly quality and safety tests; documents and records results as required; participates in periodic inspections or audits to verify compliance with infection control standards and regulatory requirements.
Alerts supervisor and clinical leadership team of trends and issues related to infection control.
Collaborates with supervisor and EH&S Infection Control Administrator to ensure accurate and safe implementation of policies and procedures.
Responsible for all sterilization training in Longwood and Cambridge, including but not limited to equipment use, maintenance, infection control standards, processes and procedures, and best practices; creates training guides and job aids.
Develops, formalizes, and communicates standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all sterilization technicians to adhere to; updates SOPs on an annual and as-needed basis to ensure consistent compliance with regulations; coordinates with EH&S Infection Control Administrator.
Serves as a lead sterilization technician, working alongside staff, providing hands-on support, and leading by example.
Operates sterilization equipment including washers and autoclaves; troubleshoots issues to ensure optimal functionality; brings repair needs to the attention of the supervisor. Collects and distributes equipment as needed.
Utilizes axiUm Dispensary module to check-out and check-in instruments and alerts supervisor and Clinical Systems of any issues.
Contribute to the mission and vision of HSDM and models the school's core values in all facets of the work.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

The incumbent will interact with faculty, staff, colleagues, and students on a daily basis with superb interpersonal skills.
