As a Quality Engineer (QE) with Draper in our Mission Assurance Division, the QE will be responsible for providing quality assurance support and guidance as part of a team of engineers, developers and project managers for complex systems. The position is located at Draper in Cambridge MA. Specific responsibilities include the following.

  • While embedded in research, development or production project teams, ensuring best practices are used for all processes related system design and development and meet the requirements of our Quality Management System

  • Responsible for quality oversight of test, troubleshoot, repair and rework activities at Draper Cambridge.

  • Responsible for development and implementation of quality metrics and management of database programs.

  • As either a quality lead or individual contributor the QE would be responsible for process improvements related to approved parts and vendor lists, internal training and infrastructure such as electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and the government industry data exchange program (GIDEP).

  • Coordinate with engineering teams to document, and implement part/material qualification plans

  • Responsible for quality oversight of parts and subcontractor procurement efforts.

  • Participate in internal and external supplier audits

Occasional domestic and international travel

Required:

An engineering, science or equivalent Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university

  • Experience with managing projects and people to deadlines.

  • Experience with product manufacturing, test and troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency in documenting plans, procedures and presenting to a technical audience.

  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in a research and development or manufacturing environment

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Proficiency with MS WORD, EXCEL and ACCESS

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time to domestic locations

  • Experience with Quality Standards ISO 9000 and AS9100

Preferred

  • Current Secret or above security clearance

  • Experience in process improvement related to approved parts and vendor lists.

  • Previous internal training and infrastructure such as electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and government industry data exchange program (GIDEP).

  • Proficiency in documenting plans, procedures and presenting to a technical audience.

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time to domestic locations.
