  • Demonstrated solution design using both technical and business process approaches

  • Experience with custom developed applications and the software development life cycle

  • Experience leveraging APIs, reporting, and data analytics  

Additional Information:This role is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA-based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite at least three days per week and for departments to provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

SAAs provide critical subject matter expertise and operational support to our faculty, learners, and staff in support of HBS’s mission to educate leaders who make a difference in the world. The SAA is responsible for the operations and maintenance of HBS student information system, financial aid, and other administrative technology platforms. They develop strong relationships with members of the HBS community to ensure the effective use and enhancement of learning and administrative technologies and processes. They stay ahead of industry trends through the collaborative design and implementation of solutions for new use cases to ensure technologies meet the HBS community's needs.

The ideal candidate is an energetic quick learner who possesses superior interpersonal and communication skills, has experience supporting student information systems, financial aid, StarRez, and Slate among others and regularly demonstrates creative problem solving. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Diagnose, escalate, and resolve software incidents for vendor-based and custom developed applications

  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define and execute on Service Plans and Roadmaps

  • Execute enhancement and defect processes under guidance from Lead Application Analyst or manager

  • Proactively identify risks and escalate as needed especially when they impact Patterns of Business Activity

  • Initiate projects and act as PM on smaller projects

  • Ensure application documentation, including context diagrams, are up to date during and after projects

  • Configure applications to match business needs

  • Assist in conducting security audits

  • Oversee Major Incident technical resolution with vendors and internal teams

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned
