Posting Description
SENIOR FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Office of Innovation, to work closely with the director of administration and finance to perform comprehensive financial management for the department’s sponsored research activities, including pre- and post-award research administration; prepare and analyze financial reports and forecasts, reconcile and audit monthly accounts, allocate personnel costs, prepare proposals and assist with aspects of complex proposal preparation and generally execute the efficient administration of sponsored funds in the department; monitor and forecast grants and contracts to ensure compliance with MIT policies; advise principal investigators (PIs) on compliance and provide guidance as warranted; monitor and track project expiration dates and funding levels; review and approve procurement transactions (procurement card, travel, RFPs, requisitions, etc.); prepare cost objects for the closeout process; prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reports for assigned PI portfolios; manage subcontracts on sponsored projects; serve as resource on department, MIT and sponsor policies.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree required and minimum of three years of experience in finance; experience managing sponsored awards; knowledge of budget preparation and administration and financial recordkeeping and reporting; excellent computer skills including proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel) and enterprise accounting and database tools; financial management/forecasting, organizational, analytical, problem solving, customer service, and excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and see projects/ issues through to completion; attention to detail; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Financial administration experience in an academic environment and MIT experience, preferred, as is experience with SAP, QuickBase, Tableau, Kuali Coeus, SQL, and IBM Analytics. Knowledge of COI, IP, FAR, FRD, STTR/SBIR strongly preferred. Job #24733-7
