Job Summary

Join our team at MIT as a Senior Culinary Manager, where you will play a crucial role in shaping exceptional dining experiences. In this position, you will collaborate with account chefs and team members to lead training initiatives, enhance food programs, and coordinate special events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold high standards for all Food Programs, ensuring workplace and food safety.

  • Lead menu development and manage cost controls, purchasing, and inventory with an emphasis on sourcing local ingredients.

  • Stay updated on food and catering trends, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, and presentation.

  • Oversee Café Manager Training for all Culinary Team members.

  • Upgrade and create new menus that align with Bon Appetit standards and meet guest expectations, focusing on ingredient listings, recipe notes, and production efficiency.

  • Input data and monitor culinary systems, including Menu Management and Allergen Software.

  • Review campus chefs’ recipes for nutritional and culinary accuracy.

  • Apply Bon Appetit Wellness Principles in all culinary operations.

  • Collaborate with Campus EC and the onsite Registered Dietitian to enhance menu transparency for guests.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations and department sanitation procedures.

  • Follow safety policies and procedures, including occurrence reporting.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development programs.

  • Create reports to demonstrate compliance with Café Manager standards.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary Degree or comparable four-year culinary development experience.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant culinary experience, including at least 3 years in culinary management.

  • ServSafe Certification.

  • Strong knowledge of basic kitchen operations and food safety standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity with P&L accountability and experience in contract-managed services is a plus.
