POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and motivated scientist with experience in Immuno-oncology (IO), who will contribute to preclinical drug discovery research projects in the Oncology therapeutic area. The person will play a critical role in various aspects of drug discovery including novel target identification, target validation, exploring mechanism of action, understanding molecular basis of the disease indications, and evaluation/development of novel modalities. In addition, the successful candidate may have an opportunity to work closely with his/her manager to lead an independent drug discovery project. The ideal candidate for this position will be scientifically rigorous, hardworking, result oriented, team player, with good communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop therapeutic conceptual hypotheses based on scientific literature and data.

  • Design and establish in vitro cell line-based and/or primary cell-based assays (human and mouse), genetic manipulations of cells, and interpretation of results.

  • Collaborate alongside a cross-functional team of large molecule discovery, computational biology, and in vivo pharmacology to discover new targets and support ongoing programs in oncology pipeline.

  • Excellent communication, record keeping, presentation, collaboration and organizational skills are required.

  • Attending, participating, and presenting scientific data at internal and external scientific meetings is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Ph.D. degree in the field of biology, immunology, oncology, immuno-oncology or related scientific discipline. Master’s degree with 3 or more years of relevant drug discovery experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 6 or more years of experience.

  • Research experience in cancer immunotherapy and/or immunology is highly desirable. Expertise in phenotypical and functional characterization of primary immune cells with experience in assessing functions of various immune cells is desirable. Expertise in T and NK cell biology is a plus.

  • Well versed in scientific techniques such as gene manipulations, western blots, MSD based cytokine analyses, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, cell proliferation, cytotoxic assays, qPCR, etc. is a must.

  • In depth understanding of in vitro experimental design and the ability to identify scientific problems as well as offering potential solutions is required.

  • Ability to work independently, generate, analyze, and interpret data with scientific rigor will be expected.
