Pfizer RWE Strategy & Business Planning Lead in Cambridge, Massachusetts

ROLE SUMMARY

The Real-World Evidence (RWE) Strategy & Business Planning Lead (SBPL) is a member of the RWE leadership team. In response to an ever-changing healthcare environment, the SBPL will champion new ways to engage with our key partners through the RWE model. This role will anticipate, identify, understand, engage in, and support effective prioritization of issues and opportunities across the RWE organization to maximize the short- and long-term performance and impact of RWE on a global scale. As a member of the RWE LT, the SBPL will lead a strategy and business planning process that drives organizational efficiency, goal clarity and alignment of activities between the RWE CMAO, the RWE LT, and other key internal/external stakeholders across the Medical Affairs organization, uncovering and leveraging critical interdependencies. The SBPL will collaborate with all RWE verticals and an extensive network of cross functional partners, including those in categories/countries, to enhance this planning process across RWE and its stakeholders

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

RWE Processes & Priorities

  • Develop approaches that drive performance, financial & budget management, and communications management for highly complex activities across an extensive network between RWE, the other Medical Affairs Platforms (Medical Engagement & Impact, and Transformation & Ops Excellence), the category CMAOs (Specialty, Primary Care, Vaccines & Antivirals, and Oncology), and within key countries as needed.

  • Lead business planning processes for the RWE Platform such as the annual Op Plan and internal Communication Plan strategy that define priorities and impact the achievement of Enterprise results

  • Accountable for the efficient governance of key meetings owned by the RWE CMAO. This includes fit for purpose attendance, decision-oriented agendas, capturing/tracking/follow up of action items and working with the appropriate colleague(s) to ensure seamless planning and logistics.

  • Develop solutions to highly complex or unique problems, often outside area of expertise, as a member of the Leadership Team with accountability for driving decision-making within RWE.

  • Develop partnerships with key leadership colleagues in other functional areas (other Platforms, CMAOs, Finance, Commercial Units, Digital) ensuring ongoing alignment of goals and strategies and increased consistency and efficiencies in processes and systems where needed.

Partnering & Innovation

  • Identify areas for further operational efficiency and simplicity and lead innovative efforts to improve these, addressing silos and enabling leadership connections.

  • Anticipate, oversee, or influence an environment where continuous improvement and innovations are embedded in day-to-day operations.

  • Address and coordinate resolution of issues raised by various internal Pfizer stakeholders, e.g., CMAO peers, US Commercial LT members, ad hoc requests, etc.

  • Partner cross-functionally with enabling internal functions and networks, while also partnering externally, as needed, to deliver insights and initiatives.

  • Act as a key enabler in building a strong culture and driving the RWE CMAO agenda, Pfizer's purpose and values through partnerships with Communications, PX and others ensuring optimal understanding and uptake across the organization, e.g., survey action planning, etc.

  • Ensure alignment within RWE, participating on or leading special projects, leveraging an extensive network to seek out and apply learnings for greater efficiency or faster impact & ensuring effective use of resources by maximizing matrixed & enabling function teams

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers and diverse stakeholders, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • MBA required + 13 years pharmaceutical industry experience although does not need to be exclusively within a Medical/scientific function; PharmD/PHD + 8 years of experience.

  • Broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare environment; experience in science-based roles is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with strategic and operating planning processes

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and mastery of working in a matrix environment.

  • Demonstrated Strategic mindset with past example(s) of strategy contributions.

  • Experience with successful Communication planning at a large organizational scale

  • Must be able to both drive strategy and execute with speed and high quality.

  • Track record of strong networking and working collaboratively across functions and geographies.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $191,300.00 to $318,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
