The Assistant Store Manager is accountable for maximizing sales and profitability through in-person sales, merchandising, inventory management, expense control, human resource management, and monitoring operating costs and shrinkage in support of the Store Manger. We are currently recruiting for a Assistant Store Manager to join our team in Cambridge, MA. Listed below are the core responsibilities and skills at the heart of this role: Retail sales and sales training. Show other staff you've got the stuff to sell and help them to perfect the same skill through training. Ability to lead the associates and hold them accountable. Leading by example goes along way, but you'll be here to make sure associates follow policies and guidelines, and to address any issues to arise with staff in a professional manner. Organizational skills. Attention to detail is key to running an efficient store to serve the needs of customers as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Heavy focus on customer service. Smiles are contagious! When customers see your passion, it excite them about their projects. Not a master woodworker? Bring your passion for learning! Interest in woodworking and tools is mandatory for this position. Woodworking skills are a plus, but not mandatory. Come work for an industry leader! Prior supervisory/leadership experience in a work setting desirable 1 to 3 years previous retail sales experience, preferably with a similar product line, required. MS Office skills, to include Outlook, Excel, and Word Excellent written/verbal communication skills Knowledge of woodworking supplies and hand/power woodworking tools a plus. Ability to motivate subordinates for top performance. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, personally lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and participate in team lifting.
