    Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST 1, Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research-Boehm Group/Jacks Lab, to join a group focused on developing novel technologies to make precision functional genomics possible to drive precision medicine. The team partners with patients across the country, creates organoid and cell models and develops living biosensor technologies that can read out the response within the first five to seven days of heterogeneous ex vivo culture using single cell technologies. They also evaluate the role of patient ancestry on novel anti-cancer therapeutic targets in a push towards equity and have particular interest in rare and underrepresented tumors such as gastroesophageal cancer and sarcoma. Responsibilities include wet-lab processing of ascites samples from gastroesophageal, ovarian, and sarcoma tumors with the Koch Institute High Throughput Science (HTS) facility; running cell culture and molecular biology experiments; optimizing CRISPR screens; giving presentations at lab meetings and national conferences; writing grant applications with Dr. Boehm; oversight of two technicians; representing the work of the lab within the KI and beyond; other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D.; completion of post-doctoral training in cancer biology, molecular biology, and/or cancer genomics; a minimum of two years of experience in cell culture, organoid development, single-cell genomics; self-motivation and high degree of independence; ability to collaborate with others; and excellent written and oral communication skills.
