The Gu laboratory is focused on shedding light on the complex interplay between the nervous and vascular systems that enables proper neuronal function. Neuroimmune communication across the brain vasculature has the potential to link the peripheral immune system to the control of various CNS functions. To better understand how the brain vasculature responds during times of inflammation to shape CNS physiology, we utilize a wide range of in vivo and in vitro approaches. These include mouse genetics, molecular, biochemical, and cell biology techniques, and a variety of imaging strategies. The entry-level lab research assistant should be able to assist lab members with a wide range of basic molecular and cell biology experiments including cloning, immunohistology, viral expression, mouse genetics, ELISA, flow cytometry; and work collaboratively with members of the lab.
