    Job Description

RADIATION PROTECTION PROGRAM (RPP) ASSISTANT OFFICER, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Office-Radiation Protection Team, to serve in a leadership role and provide expert radiation protection advice to support Institute academic and business objectives with due consideration of occupational health laws, federal and state regulations, and good practices. Will lead initiatives, manage staff, and provide advice on research and operations, building projects and experiments relative to the use of all sources of radiation; and function as an integral member of a multidisciplinary EHS office, providing technical support to all EHS program areas. As skills develop, may work EHS program areas other than main area of expertise.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in an EHS-related discipline, engineering, physical science, or biological/chemical science; three years’ relevant experience with EHS programs and the recognition, evaluation, and control of hazardous materials/conditions/physical agents; experience and general knowledge of multiple areas of EHS professional practices and regulatory compliance; working knowledge of regulations specific to federal, state, local and consensus standards, including expertise in at least some and general knowledge of most of the following: MA DPH RCP, NRC, OSHA, EPA, DOT/IATA, and DEP; evidence of leadership experience; organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills; basic computer and database skills; discretion and judgment with confidential information/issues; service and team orientation; organizational and cultural awareness; and ability to follow through on and achieve objectives/tasks in a timely manner, develop and implement well-integrated EHS programs, work collaboratively, manage multiple projects and appropriately prioritize heavy workload and client needs, and pay attention to both the “big picture” and detail. PREFERRED: master’s degree and certification in EHS discipline, RBP, CBSP, CIH, CSP, CHMM, CHP and CLSO.
