Microsoft Research New England (in Cambridge, MA) is seeking a Principal Researcher to join us in advancing the state-of-the-art in AI, ML, and statistics.

Microsoft Research New England is comprised of full-time researchers, postdocs, data scientists, engineers, and program managers working in AI, machine learning, statistics, healthcare, computational biology, theoretical computer science, algorithmic game theory, economics, social media, cryptography, and mathematics. The lab is highly collaborative and interdisciplinary and is actively engaged with the local academic and tech communities.

Responsibilities

As a researcher in MSR, you will define a novel research agenda, driving forward an effective program of basic, fundamental, and applied research. We highly value collaboration and building new ideas with members of the group and others. You have the direct opportunity to realize your ideas in products and services used worldwide.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in relevant field AND 3+ years related research experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in relevant field AND 5+ years related research experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.

  • Experience participating in a top conference in relevant research domain.

  • Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.

Research Sciences IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
