POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, NEUROSCIENCE IN ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY AND ELECTRICAL STIMULATION IN-VIVO, Program in Media Arts and Sciences. The Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek (https://web.mit.edu/deblina-sarkar/index.html) research group at MIT is seeking a postdoc with in vivo expertise in electrophysiology techniques as well as electrical brain stimulation. The Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek research group mainly works with rodents (mice and rats) but also plans to start working with large animals shortly. Responsibilities include performing research on in vivo electrophysiology and electrical stimulation, applying to diseases, doing behavioral tests, publishing scholarly reports and writing grant proposals.A full job description is available at https://www.media.mit.edu/about/job-opportunities/.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology, bioengineering, or another relevant field; expertise with vivo electrical recording and stimulation with electrodes in live animals; experience with mouse/rat surgery, stereotactic injections, and implanting electrodes; experience with electrical stimulation and recording from mice/rats’ brain/spinal cord with electrodes; and experience testing animal behavior. PREFERRED: patch clamping (cultured cells and live slices) or fiber photometry or 2-photon calcium imaging or optogenetics skills; experience studying neural plasticity with electrical stimulation; experience with neuropathic pain, Alzheimer's Disease, traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury; and experience with stem cells, 3D cultures, and organoids.
