The Organizational Effectiveness and Strategy Enablement Center of Expertise (OESE CoE) works to achieve an optimally connected and more effective STM Journals (STMJ) organization. We bring together learning and development, organizational development, communications, and inclusion and diversity. About the Role


As People Empowerment Head, you will ensure that colleagues joining STMJ will be optimally prepared to excel by designing and coordinating an interactive onboarding program. You will enable proactive career development by establishing STMJ career tracks and creating frameworks for flexible movement across teams. You will build a people leader community for learning together and sharing best practices and enable effective recognition. To do this you will leverage existing resources and develop STMJ specific offerings, collaborating closely with Human Resources partners, teams across STMJ, and colleagues across Elsevier/RELX.


Responsibilities


  • Empowering hiring managers by aligning our skill needs with job descriptions and interview approaches. Developing an STMJ-specific job description resource.

  • Redesigning onboarding content, process, and experience for all STMJ starters, by ensuring customer focus and applying best practices in inclusion and hybrid working.

  • Building an interactive, empowered people leader community who share tips and best practice, drive cultural change, and build skills and confidence.

  • Establishing a solid recognition approach for STMJ, by evolving annual STMJ Awards and enabling teams to activate recognition mechanisms.

  • Empowering individuals to be proactive in developing their career and managers to support them, establishing frameworks to enable movement across teams and flexibility for secondments and gigs.

  • Collaborating closely with Skill Building and Learning Manager as unified Learning and Development team within OESE and participating in Elsevier L&D Network.

  • Participating actively as a member of the OESE team, doing your part to foster a positive, constructive, psychologically safe and inclusive environment.

  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues in Human Resources, across STMJ and Elsevier, following central policies and leveraging central resources.

  • Setting goals and measuring progress. Taking a test and learn approach, scaling or pivoting when necessary and evolving and improving plans and offerings over time.

Requirements


  • Have a passion for building an inclusive, diverse and agile workforce and for fostering the potential of each individual.

  • Have experience as a purpose-driven, empathetic manager and have experience designing manager training or new employee onboarding.

  • Have detailed knowledge of the publishing business and STMJ strategy. Have deep domain knowledge in at least one area of publishing.

  • Be action-oriented and organized with proven ability to develop and deliver on plans. Be able to evaluate success with a data driven approach.

  • Be collaborative, love working in teams and have experience bringing diverse people together. Be able to solve complex problems and guide people through change.

  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills. Be able to influence in a matrix organization and interact effectively with people in all roles at all levels.

  • Be flexible and tolerant of ambiguity. Be able to handle multiple projects and agile to manage opportunities as they arise.
