    Job Description

MANAGER OF HR/PAYROLL SERVICES, Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to act on and resolve complex issues related to payroll operations. Will supervise, train, and develop HR/payroll staff; oversee the development of enhancements and the implementation of mid-to-large scale payroll projects; lead the team responsible for improving data quality and ensuring the integrity and timeliness of HR/Payroll data and the team responsible for complex appointment processing, data reconciliation, and analyzing and resolving critical payroll issues; and serve as a resource to internal and external stakeholders in all matters related to SAP/HR/payroll data.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field; seven years of payroll, payroll systems, payroll regulations, or related experience; expert-level knowledge of accounting principles and relevant federal regulations, including those specific to research and nonprofit organizations; advanced-level knowledge of HR and the SAP payroll system, including business rules, data and payroll transactions, and pre- and mid-payroll processing, including data audits and analysis, payroll gross to net processing, customer service team management, and MIT’s HR administrative community structure; excellent analytical, project management, problem-solving, organizational, consultative, team-building, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to drive and manage multiple priorities, projects, and team members and ensure the team’s timely delivery of all responsibilities/assignments, sometimes in stressful or high-pressure situations; discretion, tact, and good judgment when working with highly sensitive and confidential information; ability to work collaboratively, build interpersonal relationships, and achieve consensus; and excellent Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
