Position Description

The Department of Organismic Biology seeks applications for a lecturer in Vertebrate Zoology. The appointment is expected to begin on January 1, 2025. The lecturer will be responsible for developing and teaching introductory courses in Herpetology and/or Mammalogy, and possibly assist with Ornithology, in that order of priority. The Lecturer is expected to teach one course per term, one in Spring 2025 and one in Fall 2025, and beyond. The successful applicant will be hired as a Lecturer at 0.5 FTE in the Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology. Spring courses in OEB often include a spring-break field trip, which the Lecturer is encouraged to plan and execute.

The position is for three years, with the second two years contingent on a satisfactory performance review during the first year. Given the half time status of the position, the candidate may elect to pursue research or other scholarly activities as they wish.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate in Biology or related discipline required by the time the appointment begins.

Additional Qualifications

Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is desired.
