Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to effectively communicate with upper management, faculty, students, staff, and team members, ranging from those with limited understanding of technology to those who are on the forefront of computer science and IT, is essential.
Proven track record in contributing to an organization’s IT vision and strategy
Experience in vendor management and contract
Experience in IT Security and compliance, operations and network services, and application development
Proven ability to work collaboratively across organizational boundaries and a range of personal styles
Strong understanding of ITIL and best practices in configuration and change management
Team oriented with a proven track record and personal priority for developing staff
Disciplined and organized with meticulous attention to detail, excellent tracking and reporting skills, and focus on results.

Exceptional analytical and critical reasoning skills; capable of flexible and lateral thinking

Oversee and manage teams that support system operations, network services, information security, and application support services
Assist in developing and maintaining the school’s business continuity plan
Work with the CIO to develop the vision and technological strategic direction
Create and manage the annual IT Development and Operations plan and budget cost effectively
Manage, guide and develop IT staff - this includes responsibility for IT staff hiring, compensation and performance reviews
Along with the CIO, represent the IT Development and Operations team and function both formally and informally with other parts of the school and the University (this includes serving on University-wide committees)
Coordinate need assessment, proposal and delivery of administrative applications and services
Management of projects and staff focused on operations, information management, and software development for a wide array of projects involving rapid innovation
Management of relationships within HKS and University that includes Harvard University’s Information Technology (HUIT) group
Responsible for actively driving, managing, measuring, and evaluating project and service progress, costs, and value in a competing-priority environment; articulating strategic goals and initiatives; and developing compelling rationale to help ensure that the community understands the values, methods, and costs for each significant undertaking.
Fosters collaboration across groups, and works effectively with fast moving targets in a fluid environment
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Create and revise timelines and estimates for projects/services and goals to keep all relevant stakeholders appropriately informed.
Manage competing priorities effectively and handle input from many diverse collaborators and stake holders.
Devise and execute effective communication plans for ongoing projects/services and activities.
Track and communicate team and project successes, shortcomings, risks, deliverables, and timelines.
Manage relationships and agreements between groups elsewhere in Harvard (e.g., HUIT) and outside 3rd party vendors.
Negotiate, update, and ensure security compliance and service level agreements (SLAs).
Provide hands-on, day-to-day oversight, engagement, and support for an agile team, including helping team members to grow professionally, maximizing team productivity, and continually searching for and implementing process improvements.
Help identify potential unintended consequences in a complex systems environment.
Work closely with other IT teams and HKS community to ensure a value-based transition to secure IT services.
