Support the Global Docketing and IP System Manager with the development of an outsourced docketing team to interpret and timely process correspondence from local agents and patent offices, manage deadlines in docketing database, including data relating to global patent portfolios and assist in quality assurance review of docketing and patent filings by noting and referring any errors or omissions Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Ensure timely, complete accurate docketing and de-docketing in the IP Management System (Memotech) and document management system (First-to-File). • Maintains data integrity by assisting with daily quality control checks of processed mail and provide intake assistance for acquisitions or other transfers • Perform a diverse range of legal support services/assistance to patent attorneys under limited supervision by the Global Docketing and IP Systems Manager, provide expert knowledge and understanding of IP law and practice issues, both locally and globally, participate in and ensure docketing team participates in on-boarding of new Attorneys and paralegals, i.e. fully brief on docketing/data integrity role and support provided by the docketing team, and provide IP systems support to the attorneys and paralegals of the R&D IP, Pharma and Oncology teams • Assist the Global Docketing and IP Systems Manager with ensuring the docketing team is up-to-date on relevant worldwide practice and procedures, particularly EP and/or US law changes, including leading workshops for a global audience and provide and coordinate training to the team to meet role and personal development as well as department needs • Assist the Global Docketing and IP Systems Manager with analyzing patent laws, patent law changes and transitional stipulations and implementation of the relevant changes into the worldwide patent processes and make recommendations to the Global Docketing and IP Systems Manager for any required changes in the docketing practices • Coordinate with the Global Docketing and IP Systems Manager on a global basis the documentation and dissemination of pertinent information • Provide back up support for the Annuity Manager Project Responsibilities • Participate in, coordinate and/or lead projects, including those with cross-team and/or cross-divisional scope. \n\n\n\n Position Title: Global Docketing Paralegal Minimum requirements: What you’ll bring to the role: Required: • High School Diploma required • 5+ years’ of patent docketing experience required Desirable: • Associates, Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred • IP qualification, e.g., CIPA PAC or equivalent a plus Why Novartis? 769 million lives were touched by Novartis medicines in 2020, and while we’re proud of this, we know there is so much more we could do to help improve and extend people’s lives.
