FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 2, Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Center, to work with the finance manager on all facets of financial management for several large research projects. Responsibilities include assisting the finance manager with financial and administrative matters; monitoring and reconciling SMART accounts; assisting with the preparation of monthly budget and financial reports; assisting with the preparation and processing of travel and purchases reimbursements; assisting with the set up of ROLES authorizations; ensuring the proper financial control of SMART funds; serving as a resource to faculty, students, and staff; approving expenditures on SMART accounts; providing administrative and office support for the MIT staff; maintaining the office reception area; placing catering orders; overseeing office mail; interacting with the Singapore SMART staff members to coordinate financial duties and others that they are jointly accountable for; and performing related duties as requested. SMART (https://smart.mit.edu/) is a major research center in Singapore established by MIT and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore. The SMART Center, MIT’s research enterprise in Singapore, is the first such research center outside of Cambridge, MA. It allows faculty, researchers, and graduate students from MIT to collaborate with their Singapore counterparts from universities, polytechnics, research institutes and industry.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; three years’ related finance/accounting experience; proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel; strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; detail orientation; and proven ability to meet deadlines. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team with a diverse group of people and be willing to assume responsibility and take initiative. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree.
