EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, FUTURE FOUNDERS, School of Engineering (part-time, 50%), to support the director in implementing the initiative’s vision to accelerate increased access in the innovation ecosystem for female faculty members. The Future Founders Initiative (https://news.mit.edu/2021/future-founders-initiative-aims-increase-female-entrepreneurship-biotech-0224) was created in 2020 to increase the number of female faculty members who start biotechnology companies. Will be charged with articulating and implementing the initiative’s strategic goals, its methods for achieving them, and running day-to-day operations. Duties include developing and leading the program’s strategic operation, plans, and systems and overseeing the allocation of financial, technical, and personnel resources; managing, cultivating, and growing key internal and external partnerships for the program; providing technical expertise and guidance on the program goals and objectives; leading fundraising and recruitment efforts; analyzing short and long-term budget needs; preparing and presenting program documentation, evaluations, and reports; reviewing reports; and performing other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in business administration; seven years’ administration/operations and/or project/program management experience that includes three years’ related experience in academia/industry; entrepreneurial experience, including fundraising and building and leading high-performing teams; record of scholarship, preferably in entrepreneurship or similar field; experience managing research teams in academia/industry; proven consulting skills; ability to coordinate, manage, and conduct research within the MIT community and to manage multiple objectives/tasks and meet competing deadlines; and excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. PREFERRED: a master’s degree in business administration, work experience with academic-industry projects, ability to interact with research sponsors and media, and relevant financial management experience.
