The Business Infrastructure (BI) Organization within Raytheon BBN Technologies is seeking a full-time End User Support Specialist to help support functional and engineering staff at BBN’s Cambridge location. Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to laptop installation, configuration, maintenance, and documentation and planning. In addition, the incumbent will need to maintain other IT assets, prepare equipment for reuse or disposal, and other IT systems support as needed. This position also has a significant focus on responding to user-generated requests for particular hardware, software, and configuration changes.

The ideal candidate will have experience with desktop support in a medium to large size business and will be able to work independently with moderate to limited oversight. They will be configuring laptops and desktops with Windows 10, MacOS, and Linux to meet BBN standards. The End User Services is a fast-paced and nimble group. You should be able to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly and effectively. Flexibility and attention to detail essential to this teams’ success.

What will you do?

• Provides desk support by diagnosing problems and resolving technical issues

• May perform installations, repairs, upgrades, backups, and other maintenance tasks

• May perform telephone installations and removals

• Assist customers with the use of voice mail

• Setup of Audio/Visual equipment for conference rooms

• Troubleshoot a variety of software and hardware problems

• Provides quick response to requests; is able to resolve routine and complex requests; takes initiative in providing solutions for customers; organized and detail oriented

• Limited supervision; limited review of work

• Will regularly maintain hardware and software asset inventory database

What will you need?

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Experience with Mac and PC hardware: laptops, desktops, and servers

• Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

• Strong familiarity with administration of Windows 10 and Windows Server and Active Directory

• Strong familiarity with MS Office Suite and Outlook

• Strong familiarity with Mac OS and familiarity with Linux OS

• Basic understanding of network principles (TCP/IP) and LAN/WAN

Additional Skills that would be AWESOME / BENEFICIAL:

• Strong familiarity with Jamf Pro

• Experience with IT infrastructure services, security, and protocols

• Knowledge of networking essentials including common ports & protocols, DHCP, DNS, switching/routing, firewalls, etc…

• Basic working knowledge Microsoft Deployment Toolkit

• Familiarity with the use of Atlassian software products (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket
