ICF Consulting Group, Inc. Economist, Transportation and Environment Policy in Cambridge, Massachusetts
ICF’s Regulatory, Policy and Economics business portfolio supports primarily public-sector clients with research, analysis, technical assistance, and implementation support to help them address complex policy, management, and regulatory challenges. We estimate the environmental, safety and social impacts of regulations, policies and programs and assess their costs, benefits, and economic impacts. We also evaluate program effectiveness. We work with virtually all federal agencies and with state and local agencies and select non-profit and private-sector clients. Our key clients include the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Labor, Department of Interior, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will work within an interdisciplinary team performing economic and financial analyses on issues of transportation, public safety, and environmental regulation and policy. You will lead research and quantitative analyses and conduct regulatory and policy analyses for our clients. The bulk of your work will be on domestic regulatory issues. Specifically you will:
Compile and analyze data to characterize baseline conditions and perform economic, financial, and other quantitative analyses to assess regulatory costs and the impacts of policies on affected businesses, industries, employment, and the economy.
Lead the development of models and analytic frameworks, as well as the preparation of reports.
Collaborate with senior and junior staff within a multidisciplinary team that includes economists, scientists, and engineers. May direct the work of junior staff at times.
Interact directly with clients and contribute to expanding our business.
What you must have (minimum qualifications)
Master’s degree in economics, public policy, or a related discipline and academic record/coursework in the areas of microeconomics, econometrics/statistics, analysis of economic and/or survey data, accounting/finance.
At least 2 years of experience conducting quantitative research and analysis in economics and regulatory policy in a consulting/project-oriented environment.
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to apply technical skills and innovative thinking to solve complex problems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
