    Job Description

DIRECTOR, OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Office, to direct all staff, operations, and budget for the following programs: Administration and Finance, EHS Management System (EHS-MS), EHS Information Technology and Training Program, the leaders of which will be direct reports. The EHS-MS is the Institute's overall system for providing oversight and implementation of programs needed to keep the Institute in compliance with all relevant EHS regulations as well as for adopting commonly accepted best practices. Will provide expert EHS advice that supports achievements of Institute academic and business objectives with due consideration of and in compliance with EHS laws, regulations, and best practices; lead strategic planning initiatives and manage staff to assure the smooth and successful delivery of services to prevent overexposure to hazardous materials and physical agents as reasonably feasible while achieving overall Institute objectives; and be responsible for oversight of the EHS budget to assure all programs are adequately funded and maintain fiscal control; and handle other duties as directed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: master’s degree in an EHS-related field; certification in a recognized EHS discipline (e.g., CIH, CSP, CHP, CBSP, CHMM) and eligibility and experience necessary for certification in at least one additional certification; ten years of relevant experience; technical expertise in environmental occupational safety and health related to the recognition, evaluation, and control of chemical, radiological, biological, and physical agents; general expertise in a range of EHS disciplines; and experience managing people, projects, and budgets. PREFERRED: certification in at least two EHS disciplines noted above and/or an MBA; and five years of experience in an academic environment. Job #22881-13 6/23/23
