Insight Global Data Engineer in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Job Description

A top biotechnology client is seeking a Data Engineer to join their team on a remote basis (EST hours). The candidate will combine SQL querying and database design with Python Programming. The consultant will sit-in in the Digital organization, partnering heavily with the Big Data Technologies like Hadoop and Spark. He/she will create data governance and compliance through various platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. It is important that he/she is familiar with tools like Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines, they are problem solvers and effective communicators, collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making.

Day to Day:

* Determine which tools and architectures are best suited to develop a pipeline for a particular data source.

* Develop data flow pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various data sources in various forms, including custom ETL pipelines that enable model and product development.

* Write custom scripts to extract data from unstructured/semi-structured sources.

* Build cross-platform data strategy to aggregate multiple sources including manufacturing, equipment, laboratory testing and process development datasets.

The Data Engineer must also provide clear documentation for delivered solutions and processes, integrating documentation with the appropriate corporate stakeholders. As the organization continues to become more digitized, he/she should be focused on identifying and implement internal process improvements for data management (automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability). This role is a contract to hire position, so it is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door at a fast-growing biotechnology company.

Compensation:

$65/hour to $75/hour

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401K retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements

* Minimum 8 years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing ETL solutions using any enterprise ETL tools

* Proven experience working with Cloud Environments (AWS preferred, Google Cloud, Azure)

* Extensive knowledge of data warehouse design and data modeling principles, following the most updated and performant standards.

* In-depth understanding of database management systems and scripting (SQL)

* Scripting experience with Python * Experience working in Life Sciences, pharma/biotech, or related field preferred.

* Proven experience with BI tools such as Tableau and Spotfire preferred.

* Experience with Data Prep/Automation tools such as Dataiku. null
