Biogen Congress Excellence Lead in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Congress Excellence Lead is responsible for the development, strategic alignment, and execution of MS Congress strategy (aligned with overall MS TA strategy) that will shape how the Biogen communicates with both internal and external audiences at congresses pertinent to MS therapeutic area across multiple MS products, franchise, and portfolio. This role is responsible for collaborating with congress teams in different regions-US, ECP, BIR and partner markets to determine resource needs and relative prioritization of Biogen engagement at different Congresses in these region. This includes tiering of congress to rationalize spend and creating systems, recommending sponsorships decisions and coordination of overall scientific communications through different channels to meet the scientific needs of the audience in these diverse geographies whilst ensuring consistency of scientific narrative for MS. This role is also responsible for coordinating the execution of medical congress activities at congresses that are relevant across all therapeutic areas (TA) supported by the Scientific Communications team. S/he will support the TA leads in the driving alignment, consistency, and timely completion across different functional groups within Medical to ensure an integrated and consistent implementation of all congress activities. S/he will lead medical logistics meetings, keep internal tools and trackers up to date with relevant information, manage individual workload and budgetary spend, prioritize tasks, and alert Scientific Communications team to potential risks or concerns and support appropriate triage. This role is a critical liaison between medical and commercial congress teams in terms of information sharing as well as aligned and compliant execution of data dissemination and medical education deliverables such medical booth content. This role will also lead projects focused on optimizing communication process and deliverables at congresses and support local and regional congress leads as requested. S/he will participate on special projects and assignments as needed. This role will serve as the champion to create a roadmap for digital transformation of Congress engagement. This role will work in partnership with SP Lead, TA leads and other functional groups including commercial, multi-channel engagement and digital CE&O to deliver on a pilot operational model that is scalable to serve a multi-franchise portfolio at Biogen. * * * Requires a Bachelor's degree and 3 - 5 years’ experience working in project management, event planning, or related field with strong customer service skills. * 1 - 3 years’ experience in pharma/biotech scientific communication materials preferred * Demonstrates a strong ability to prioritize, independently identify, analyze and solve problems in a timely manner * Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and judgment * Excellent organizational skills, including ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently. * High degree of self-motivation and enthusiasm with high attention to detail * Healthcare Industry Knowledge–– Awareness of the key drivers that have an impact on the business. * Biogen Specific Knowledge—Awareness of Biogen environment (i.e., structure, processes, and people) and stakeholder needs to accomplish goals. * Department Strategy Knowledge— supports the execution of functional strategy. * Effectively Communicates––Recognizes when and if there is a need to escalate; communicates effectively through project lifecycle. * Executes and Drives to Completion––Ensures own activities tied to critical path are executed in a timely manner.
