5+ years of experience in community management, social media management, or related roles, preferably within the education, entrepreneurship, or tech space is required.
Education beyond high school may count toward experience.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) experience is required
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Community Building Skills: Proven experience in building, managing, and growing online communities, with a deep understanding of best practices in community engagement.
Event Planning & Facilitation: Experience planning and facilitating webinars, workshops, or virtual events.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate community members in an inclusive and welcoming manner.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with community management tools (e.g., Slack, Discord, Facebook Groups), social media platforms, and webinar tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to address community challenges and resolve conflicts in a positive and proactive way.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to align community efforts with broader platform goals.
Additional Information:This position is approved as a term appointment with an end date of 06.30.26. There is a possibility of renewal/extension.
This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.
This is a 40 hours/week, overtime-eligible position.

Community Group Management:
Oversee and manage online community groups, forums, and discussion boards to foster engagement and meaningful connections among users.
Manage and moderate community groups, encouraging participation and facilitating discussions.
User Engagement & Support:
Actively engage with community members, responding to questions, facilitating discussions, and ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
Engage directly with community members, answering questions and providing support.
Webinars & Workshops:
- Plan, organize, and facilitate webinars, virtual workshops, and other synchronous events to enhance community engagement and offer educational opportunities.
Community Growth Strategy:
- Develop and execute strategies to grow the community, increase participation, and deepen engagement, particularly among entrepreneurs in emerging markets.
Content Curation & Creation:
Curate user-generated content, highlight success stories, and create community-driven content that adds value to the learning experience.
Curate and share user-generated content, working closely with other teams to support content strategy.
Feedback Collection & Reporting:
- Gather feedback from the community, report trends and insights to internal teams, and suggest improvements to the platform based on user needs.
Event Management:
- Coordinate community-driven events, such as online meetups, challenges, and collaborative workshops, to drive engagement and build a sense of belonging.
Collaboration with Teams:
- Work closely with the product, content, and marketing teams to align community initiatives with platform goals and support overall user engagement strategies.
Community Moderation: Ensure that community guidelines are followed, and moderate discussions to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment.

In addition to managing community groups and facilitating webinars and workshops, the Community Manager will play a key role in supporting our social media channels, fostering conversations, and growing an engaged online community. You will support the creation of engaging content that sparks meaningful dialogue, responding to community feedback, and developing strategies to increase participation across all digital platforms.
