Position Summary

The Discovery Biotherapeutics group in Cambridge, Massachusetts is dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative biologics. Our primary mission is to design and implement advanced biological tools and processes that drive the forefront of therapeutic innovation. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and expertise, we aim to pioneer new approaches that enable the creation of novel biologics, ultimately advancing the field of biotherapeutics and improving patient outcomes.

Join the Functional Assays team as a Co-Op to learn about biotherapeutic screening and lead identification. Contribute to a dynamic group responsible for using cell-based, biophysical, and biochemical assays to evaluate therapeutic candidates. Help develop and optimize assays to identify binders with desired properties, characterize their mechanism of action, and make an impact on our drug discovery pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cell-based antibody internalization assays in support of screening efforts against oncology targets of interest.

  • Evaluate next generation fluorescent dyes for assays involving intracellular trafficking or internalized antibodies.

  • Perform biochemical and cell-based assay development including miniaturization of existing 96-well plate format into 384-well plate format, utilizing liquid handler automation.

  • Record experiments and data in electronic laboratory notebooks in sufficient detail and in a timely fashion.

  • Participate and contribute during scientific discussions.

  • Analyze data and present project findings at the conclusion of the program.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Motivated undergraduate that is eager to learn about biologics discovery and characterization, with a basic understanding of cellular pathways and biochemistry preferred.

  • Candidate must be in enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.

  • Must have completed a minimum of 2 years of study towards a bachelor's degree by June 2025

  • Candidate should have basic laboratory skills (via lab course, academic lab, or industry lab)

  • Candidate should have strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal), and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

  • Candidate must be eligible for employment in the United States, and available to work from January 6th, 2025, to June 20th, 2025.

  • This is a lab-based, onsite role, located at our Cambridge, MA site.
