Job Description Summary

The Managing Director, Business Development is a critical executive level role operating across GE Vernova Business Segments and Headquarters, leading the wing to wing execution of M&A transactions by providing strategic direction, leadership of cross functional teams and leveraging GE Vernova BD/M&A best practices and frameworks. The Managing Director will translate concepts, develop strategy, and implement change based on the strategic objectives of the Company’s business strategy.

Role Summary/Purpose

The Managing Director, Business Development is a critical executive level role operating across GE Vernova Business Segments and Headquarters, leading the wing to wing execution of M&A transactions by providing strategic direction, leadership of cross functional teams and leveraging GE Vernova BD/M&A best practices and frameworks. The Managing Director will translate concepts, develop strategy, and implement change based on the strategic objectives of the Company’s business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Independently drive M&A transactions from sourcing to close; manage cross functional deal teams

  • Support the development of GEV Business Development strategy

  • Execute on deals that support the GEV’s BD strategy

  • Collaborate cross functionally to influence and ensure senior leadership buy-in on acquisition, JV or divestment opportunities

  • Coach, develop and lead more junior M&A team members

  • Travel extensively and assimilate quickly into project teams

  • Help build the commercial/strategic rationale for deals, challenge the financial models, create documents (internal and external) and support the due diligence process

  • Keep abreast of industry research and competitor activities (sectors and markets) in order to assess the possibilities for portfolio growth, and identify likely markets, competition, acquisition opportunities, product development and business opportunities

  • Perform market and competitor activity analysis based on available information, in order to determine the feasibility and best structure for deals

  • Develop deep understanding of GE businesses, products and capabilities across the region. Needs to understand all aspects of GE’s operations thoroughly

  • Work effectively with team members and outside advisors on legal, tax and financial matters

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Relevant Bachelors Degree, or equivalent knowledge or experience, with extensive financial related transactional experience, including 8 – 10 years of M&A/transaction or relevant experience.

  • Major M&A/Transactional experience, ideally with GE

  • Demonstrated ability to originate, lead and execute complex M&A transactions

  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, ability to operate and communicate at senior business levels including CEO and external parties

  • Strong selling skills and strong commercial acumen

  • Strong external network in relevant markets

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong team player with ability to build relationships quickly

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Must be able to travel

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in Business Development/M&A essential, minimum 8 - 10 years of M&A or relevant experience

  • Prior GE BD/M&A experience is essential

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to build external relationships at senior level

  • Strong financial background

  • European language skills a plus

The salary range for this position is $170,000 to $350,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s geographic location, experience, education, skill set, and work location. This position is also eligible for variable incentive compensation and equity. Benefits include health and additional benefits.
