Position Description:This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded through 06/30/26. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.

Reporting to the Associate Director for HR Systems, the Business Systems Analyst supports the service delivery of University-wide systems, solutions, and services with a focus on HR Systems. This role will support all HR systems, including PeopleSoft, and will work with the team to research, identify, develop, design, document, implement, and communicate solutions to support business needs and provide ongoing support. The Business Systems Analyst is expected to work closely with the user community, fellow team members, technical partners, and vendors to design, test, implement, and validate solutions to support ongoing and emerging needs. Support PeopleSoft Absence Management, Talent Management, Pension and Benefits Administration). As well as Kenexa (Staff Recruiting), Harvard Training Portal and other HR applications. Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to implement system improvements, help resolve technical business challenges within HR Systems and assist as needed.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work at a high level within a team on most phases of service analysis and consider the business implications of technology applications to the current and future business environment.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into systems requirements and scoping

  • Work on an Agile team to deliver technical solutions that meet our user’s needs.

  • Contribute to the definition of systems requirements, conduct gap analysis, and identify feasible alternative solutions that meet defined business objectives

  • Ensure that operational tasks are completed on time and coordinate with business units as needed.

  • Participate in the production support rotation. Respond within one business day to end user questions, system issues and requests for data sets, reports and system enhancements. Independently research and troubleshoot any issues. Consult other analysts as needed.

  • Identify opportunities for process and/or system improvements. Make suggestions to implement those changes. May review other analysts’ work, reports, specification documents and/or test scripts to comply with IT Audit guidelines.

  • Perform user needs analysis, product evaluation, selection, customization, testing, implementation, and support

  • Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct

  • Other duties as assigned

This position has been designated as a Primarily remote position with the opportunity to be on-site position 1-2 days per week if desired. While this position is primarily remote on-site, additional travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work. Examples include bi-annual or quarterly Town Halls, critical business meetings or other work events. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only).
