ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II, Admissions, to serve on the Admissions’ customer service team, acting as an ambassador to the Institute at the new MIT Welcome Center at Kendall Square, and work behind the scenes supporting Admissions’ customer service and administrative needs. Will work closely with colleagues at MIT Open Space Programming in staffing the Welcome Center reception desk, ensuring that the visitor experience at MIT is welcoming, informative, and inspiring; develop and maintain expertise regarding MIT programs and culture and the admissions application process in order to provide excellent customer service to applicants and families in-person, over the telephone, and via email; assist the Admissions’ recruitment team with the coordination of student tour guides and on-campus events; and provide logistical support for off-campus recruitment initiatives. Other duties will include providing administrative and project support, scheduling meetings, supporting recruitment travel programs and preparing travel expense reports, processing administrative and financial transactions, and working with student employees and volunteers. Will work under the supervision of the assistant director of recruitment.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma; three years’ related experience; excellent customer service skills; tact and good judgment; attention to accuracy and detail; strong organizational and communication skills; comfort working on multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision; and flexibility. Must enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people, primarily prospective applicants and parents. PREFERRED: a college degree and three years of customer service experience. Job #19486-5
