Massachusetts Maritime Academy Tenure-track Marine Science Safety in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts
General responsibilities: Ability to teach an academic course load of 12 credits per semester (fall and spring) of college-level courses within the Marine Science, Safety and Environmental Protection Department. Teaching responsibilities would primarily include Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) topic areas, along with related departmental courses as needed. The department?s curriculum may be viewed on the Massachusetts Maritime Academy?s website. Regular curriculum development and improvement. Participation in various academic committees in support of the Department and Academy. Participation in Experiential Learning Programs and/or Sea Term. Service as an academic advisor to assigned student advisees. All teaching positions at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy require computer literacy, excellent written and oral communication skills, and an understanding of the Academy\'s unique mission. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: A Master of Science in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Safety Sciences, Risk and Decision Sciences or a related field by the desired start date. A current professional license in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) field, such as a Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, or Safety Trained Supervisor. Able to teach in the following areas: Environmental Health & Safety, Ecotoxicology, and Environmental Risk. Ideal candidate will have the ability to integrate various Environmental Health and Safety laboratory and field techniques. Demonstrated potential to fulfill evaluation criteria for teaching and advising at the college level. Preferred qualifications: A Ph.D. in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Safety Sciences, Risk and Decision Sciences or a related field by the time of the appointment (September 1, 2024). Salary: \$70,000-\$74,000. This is a tenure-track, 9-month academic calendar position. The Academy offers generous benefits and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
