U.S. Coast Guard Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, WG-5803-10 in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts
Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Base Cape Cod, Buzzards Bay, MA. Responsibilities The role of this position is for repairing and maintaining heavy mobile and special purpose equipment such as large runway snow removal equipment, street sweeper, floor scrubber, forklifts, refueling trucks both the engine chassis and the dispensing systems, heavy construction and earth moving equipment such as backhoes, and front end loaders. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Troubleshooting and isolating mechanical malfunctions and determining the extent of repairs to be made. Inspecting, removing, replacing, and or rebuilding all systems and systems associated with assigned heavy mobile and heavy special purpose equipment. Performing body repair, minor welding, painting, glass replacement, upholstery repair or replacement and lamp replacement. Performing preventive maintenance services by inspecting, servicing, replacing fluids, and correcting discrepancies according to established directives. Maintaining proper stock and inventory of repair parts to accomplish tasks. Performing snow removal operations on all airfield access roads, runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking ramps around Coast Guard hangars. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Class B drivers license is required. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
