Job Overview
This Senior Packaging Developer in the R&D team will focus on KDP Ready to Drink Soft Drinks beverage business and is responsible for packaging projects for primary packs, which includes determination of consumer preferred design, performance requirements, setting quality standards, creating packaging specifications and coordinating activities with a range of business partners to ensure flawless execution of packaging projects. This role will support the development of new & existing material technology & packaging formats to deliver against KDP corporate packaging goals. This role requires technical knowledge of PET bottle technology, flexible and paper packaging, and package development process.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Sr. Packaging Developer in this role will be responsible for supporting packaging development and commercialization of new materials and packaging systems to deliver against short - and mid-term objectives to support Brand and Packaging goals.
Contribute to the development of the Packaging Brief in conjunction with Brand & Innovation Marketing
Develop bottle/flexible/paper packaging solutions (primary, secondary and tertiary) in conjunction with packaging vendors, according to the KDP design, packaging development process, focused on value and unique experience for the consumer .
Responsible for the packaging part of the projects entrusted to them from the feasibility phase to the launch phase, in terms of quality, time and cost, as a member of a project team.
Support technical timelines, raising issues and risks and leveraging strong packaging development skills.
Coordinate and conducting functional testing including lab testing, plant trials and packaging material qualifications.
Follow technical stage gate process, package development plan & timeline
Develop cooperative working relationships with cross-functional teams,
Requirements
Past R&D experience in the development and scaleup of new packaging is required.
Bachelor's Degree in packaging, Chemical Engineering or similar technical degree preferred.
5+ years’ experience in package development for new packaging launches within a FMCG industry(preferred), coordination and completion of qualification programs.
Experience in PET, resins, fibers, flexibles, rigid thermoformed, ISBM, compression molded packages, materials/converting methods with both corrugated and plastic containers a plus.
Understanding of a standard packaging development life cycle for materials and structures
Demonstrated competence within FMCG environment a plus
Experience in new package/product launches
A.P.E. / Tops or equiv palletization software
Creative problem-solving skills
Attention to detail; strong communication and interpersonal skills;
Strong math and analytical skills to evaluate complex and sometimes ambiguous situations
