Our team – Resilience, ESG and Disaster Recovery - works with companies and government agencies to achieve sustainability, including deep decarbonization, climate resilience and positive social impact. We help clients navigate the complex world of climate change, climate regulation, shifting consumer preferences, and the energy transition to achieve sustainable and profitable products, processes, business models and services. We apply leading frameworks such as Science-Based and Net-Zero Targets, ESG, and TCFD, and create innovative digital, programmatic, and financial solutions with our clients. As a member of our team, you will work with various public and private sector clients across different industries on their sustainability journey. Assignments may include defining sustainability strategies and targets, measuring sustainability impacts, identifying/qualifying energy efficiency and renewable energy measures, and implementing carbon abatement programs.

Project teams are staffed across borders and client industries to deliver maximum value to our clients.

In this role, you will learn, be challenged, and develop skills at a fast pace. You will contribute to complex projects and manage customer-facing tasks. In addition to hands-on experience, our inhouse training program will teach you the diverse skills you need to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • You will create direct impact by supporting clients along their sustainability journey while working together with your team to answer their questions. This includes - but is not limited to - data gathering and analysis, conducting industry research, synthesizing information, writing reports, engaging stakeholders, developing Excel models, preparing presentations, and presenting findings to clients.

  • You will advance the sustainability objectives of large organizations by identifying, qualifying, and valuing potential carbon abatement measures. Among other duties, this team member will:

  • Collect and analyze client facility and energy usage data.

  • Quantify energy consumption to establish baselines for energy use or need.

  • Conduct interviews with client facility and engineering professionals to gain and an understanding of customer site and operations.

  • Conduct remote and survey-based site assessments to identify and prioritize potential energy/carbon savings measures. Conduct desktop and survey-based evaluations of building envelopes, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or process systems to determine the potential for energy or carbon savings.

  • Analyze technical feasibility of energy saving measures using knowledge of engineering, energy production, energy use, construction, maintenance, system operation, or process systems.

  • Assess and understand energy usage data from equipment such as data loggers, universal data recorders, light meters, sling psychrometers, psychrometric charts, flue gas analyzers, amp-probes, watt meters, volt meters, thermometers, or utility meters.

  • Compare existing energy consumption levels to normative data – at a facility and system level.

  • Recommend energy efficiency or renewable energy measures.

  • Calculate the potential for various abatement measures to produce economic and environmental value.

  • Prioritize potential measures abatement measures based on client approval and investment criteria.

  • Prepare reports containing energy/carbon abatement analysis results and recommendations.

  • You will contribute to complex projects and manage activities that advance customer sustainability objectives.

  • You will work on diverse assignments which are connected to corporate sustainability and the energy transition in different ways. Some examples:

  • Developing a decarbonization roadmap for an industry sector association

  • Developing a greenhouse-gas (GHG) footprint and setting GHG emissions targets for a global restaurant brand

  • Helping large organizations define and strategize about environmental justice

  • Increasing climate literacy of thousands of key employees and suppliers

  • Implementing an emission tracking system for an entire city

  • Setting up a sustainability program for multi-national organizations, including development of financing mechanisms

  • Supporting an clients to procure renewable electricity and transition on-site energy infrastructure to a lower carbon option, including designing and managing the related tendering process

  • Preparing market forecasts for low-carbon buildings

  • Analyzing the ESG-related risks for investors

  • Assessing the climate risks and opportunities for a organization with global operations.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience & training

  • 2-5 years working experience in related fields

  • Education in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or chemical), physics, mathematics, or a similar discipline

  • Experienced and skilled with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

  • Experience in energy efficiency auditing, abatement measure implementation, or renewable energy project development is preferred

  • Experience in energy efficiency auditing, commissioning/retro-commissioning, abatement measure implementation, or renewable energy project development is preferred

  • Strong quantitative & analytical skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • A critical thinker with a strong eye for detail

  • Able to show data collection and organizational skills

  • Working knowledge of data analytics and analysis software such as Power BI, R, Arc GIS etc. is a bonus

  • Strong qualitative & team skills

  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills

  • Excellent analysis and Excel-based analytics skills

  • Proven ability to summarize complex material into key findings and implications for our clients

  • A team player who demonstrates the willingness and ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels

  • Flexibility

  • Willingness to travel as needed by clients (currently remote)

  • Able to work on multiple projects and show a good understanding of the project objectives and client expectations
