About the Park School

 

The Park School is a Pre-K to Grade 8 independent school in Brookline, MA dedicated to excellence in education. The Park School has an immediate need for a choreographer for our winter musical, Cinderella. (January 7-March 9). This individual will need to be on campus 2 times/week from 3pm-4:30pm to work with students grades 6-8 on large dance numbers. Independent planning time is necessary, as your time with students will be used to teach and rehearse. As we near the production, the choreographer will be needed for extended rehearsals until 5:30 or 6:00 PM. The performances are on March 6, 7, and 8. This is a stipend position.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • In collaboration with the Director and Music Director, develop and plan choreography for dance numbers for Cinderella .

  • Teach and rehearse choreography with an approach that is engaging, fun and student centered. 

  • Be optimistic, creative, and excellent with time management

  • Ensure show deadlines are met.

  • Approach responsibilities in a way that is respectful, collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented with both students and faculty.

  • Respectfully engage with a diverse community and ensure that diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging is emphasized as a core value of the School.

     

    Qualifications

     

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Experience and knowledge within musical theater dance styles and choreography

  • Experience working with elementary and middle school aged children 

  • Experience choreographing larger groups (15-35+)

  • Ability to manage planning time and time with students to meet show deadlines
