Brockton Hospital Storeroom Clerk in Brockton, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Supply, Processing and Distribution Manager, performs duties to distribute medical and general supplies hospital-wide . Insures department or patient charges for items issued from the Storeroom.

Department: Storeroom

This is a full-time 40 hour/ week position

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures supplies issued have not exceeded stated shelf life . Handles all expired supplies as required (i.e., return reusable items to C.S.R for reprocessing).

  • Stores inventory supplies in assigned locations on a first-in, first-out basis . Participates in semi-annual inventories.

  • Inputs data transactions into Materials Management Computer System . Audits transactions for completeness and accuracy.

  • Ensures timely distribution and pick-up of in-house mail as needed.

  • Performs a variety of assigned tasks such as answering the phone and filing.

  • Restocks storeroom supplies, cleans work area as assigned and finishes assignments on a timely basis

  • Exchanges supply carts on nursing units and other clinical areas on a daily basis returning used carts to the Storeroom. Processes exchange carts by removing outdated items, replenishing cart supplies to stock quotas, and maintaining cart in a neat and orderly manner.

  • Maintains par levels for nursing units that do not receive supplies via the exchange cart system.

  • Completes and delivers department supply orders for items not provided for through supply cart on par leveling systems.

  • Completes appropriate forms for Storeroom issues noting department, stock item, stock number, unit of issue, and quantity.

  • Performs over the counter issues as necessary, insuring appropriate documents and signatures are obtained . Delivers non-inventory and specialized supplies and equipment to designated departments . Insures proper custody and control of items while in transit, obtain signature for receipt of goods and file documents . As required, assist in the assembly of certain equipment when received.

    BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Resolves routine problems pertaining to stocking and distribution of supplies.

  • Problems not clearly defined are reviewed with Lead Storeroom Clerk or Supervisor to determine course of action.

  • Duties are generally procedures allowing incumbent to perform independently in conformance with written instructions, established schedules and priorities

    Education/Experience/Licenses/Technical/Other:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience: Two to four months to be proficient in all phases of assigned duties. Must have good accurate math skills.
