Brockton Hospital Food Service Associate II in Brockton, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision and according to oral or written instruction and established schedules, performs a variety of general cleaning and servicing activities throughout the kitchen and cafeteria.

This is a part-time flex position

Responsibilities:

  • Delivers food trucks to the floors . Returns trucks to the dishwashing area. Strips and cleans trays . Cleans and washes food services truck . May load trucks prior to delivery . May deliver par stocks to floors . Requires pushing and pulling of trucks.

  • Using mops, brooms and similar cleaning equipment as well as soaps, detergents and agents; sweeps, mops and cleans the general kitchen areas including walls, floors and such equipment as steam tables, grills, refrigerators, food cutting benches, ovens, etc. Moves equipment, tables, etc., as needed to accomplish cleaning assignments . Requires pushing, pulling, lifting and bending.

  • Collects and disposes of rubbish and trash accumulated in kitchen, cafeteria and office areas . Requires lifting and bending.

  • Washes, cleans and sanitizes frequently used kitchen utensils and equipment such as pots, pans, bowls, etc., using brushes, washcloths and similar cleaning equipment.

  • Prepares dishwasher for operation . Unloads dishwasher after completion . Returns dishes, pots, equipment, trays and other supplies to proper storage area . Cleans dishwasher.

  • Performs a variety of general kitchen duties including filling ice dispenser, brewing coffee, late tray delivery, and other duties necessary to support kitchen operations.

  • Cleans sanitizes and organizes all equipment and work areas.

  • Sets up assigned station (such as tray set-up, hot food and beverage), following written instructions, including stocking supplies, and simple food preparation . Must be able to read and write English.

  • Places menu items on tray in proper portion sizes . Loads patient trays onto truck . Requires lifting and bending.

  • Returns supplies and food to proper location. Disassembles dirty trays. Loads dishwasher. Cleans and organizes assigned station. Cleans truck, carts, equipment and other areas as assigned.

  • May prepare and deliver special or late trays according to direction. Completes required written forms.

  • According to posted written menu, stocks cafeteria service area with necessary supplies. Sets up desserts, prepares cold sandwiches and cuts vegetables in preparation for salad bar. Supplies dressings, garnishes, and related items as required.

  • Prepares grilled items as assigned including breakfast items, and specials following cook's instructions. Stocks and returns required ingredients.

  • Serves food items on cafeteria line according to prescribed portions.

  • May require reaching.

  • Services special functions. Arranges for table placement. Provides tablecloths, utensils, etc. Makes coffee, cold sandwiches. Serves prepared meals. Clears room following function.

  • May occasionally run "speed cash register" including opening and closing.

    BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be able to read English and communicate verbally or in writing in order to follow work instructions.

  • Must be able to work in an environment with lots of noise, temperature fluctuations and much interaction with many people.

    Education/Experience/Licenses/Technical/Other:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Experience (Type & Length): Entry level job. On-the-job training of approximately one month is provided.
