_SUMMARY_: Under the general supervision of the First Assistant and Second Assistant District Attorneys, the Chief of District Courts is responsible for managing and supervising the district court legal staff and overseeing daily operations in all four district courts. The Chief acts as a liaison between the D.A.’s Office and the district court presiding judges and is responsible for fielding requests for consideration from defense attorneys. The Chief of District Courts is an employee of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and serves at the pleasure of the District Attorney. This Supervising Attorney’s position is covered under the provisions of G.L. c. 268B. _DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES_ * Supervise, mentor, coach and train the district court legal staff * Set, communicate and maintain clear expectations for the district court legal staff * Foster a positive, collaborative working environment * Performance management including, but not limited to, evaluation and review of District Court Assistant District Attorneys, providing feedback for improvement, assisting staff in setting goals, and implementing corrective action when necessary * Manage or coordinate personnel subjects including, but not limited to, time management, employee workload and assignments, time off approvals, employee training and development, employee morale and engagement, general compliance and teamwork * Protect information that others are not privy to, such as employee information, supervisory responsibilities or office information that is not public * Participate in the development, implementation, and reviewing of processes to increase department efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining a high quality of service delivery * Enforce office policies and procedures * Delegate tasks to ensure that services are provided in the most efficient and effective manner in support of the district courts and the entire office * Trouble shoot sensitive/high profile cases * Ensure adequate staffing of each District Court and assign and transfer Assistant District Attorneys subject to approval of First Assistant and Second Assistant District Attorneys * Review requests for disposition of cases short of trial, plea of guilt or admission to sufficient facts (i.e. PTP/diversion) * Respond to calls from Police Chiefs/Department Heads regarding police issues/requests * Liaison between D.A.’s Office and District Court Judges; attend district court operational meetings at each court * In collaboration with First Assistant D.A., coordinate assignment of Special Prosecutors to district court conflict cases * In collaboration with First Assistant D.A., coordinate assignment of Superior Court Cases to District Court ADAs * Liaison with other D.A.’s Offices and MDAA on developing legal and crime lab issues * Prosecute Superior Court cases as assigned by First Assistant and Second Assistant District Attorneys * Performs any other duty that may be requested by the District Attorney or his designee _QUALIFICATIONS_ * Must have a minimum of 10 years' experience * Juris Doctorate and license to practice in Massachusetts * Minimum of five years of prosecutorial experience is required * Two years of a proven and demonstrated track record of successful team membership or leadership is required * Recent, relevant management experience to include all personnel subjects, such as, but not limited to, performance management and unit efficiency, workload and assignments, employee hiring, training and development, employee engagement, general supervision and time management is preferred * Strong written and oral advocacy skills * Expert at trial/litigation * Requires excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a positive, collaborative working environment * Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and maturity in handling sensitive matters * Diplomacy in dealing with staff, professionals, and members of the public * Ability to prioritize time sensitive matters and ensure all deadlines are met * Self-starter with the following attributes: sharp attention to detail, ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, ability to contribute and work as part of a team, positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes and adapt to new guidelines as needed * Ability to travel to and work at all of the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office locations in Brockton, Plymouth, Wareham and Hingham Job: Legal Services* *Organization: Plymouth County DA *Title: *Chief of District Courts Location: Massachusetts-Brockton - 166 Main Street Requisition ID: 24000ANA
