The primary goal of this position is to establish a cohesive and inclusive residential community utilizing diversity and social justice practices to promote student success. The RD serves as a front-line responder in on-campus emergency situations and is required to work daytime, on-duty, and non-traditional hours including nights and weekends. The RD directly supervises and evaluates various student staff including but not limited to Resident Assistants (RA), office assistants and other student employees within their residence hall as needed. The RD is expected to be knowledgeable of and enforce university policies and procedures, be available to students, and make referrals to appropriate academic and/or administrative departments as necessary. This position is designated as a Title IX and Equal Opportunity Responsible Employee and is required to directly report any allegations or reports of potential sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking or allegations of protected category-based discrimination and harassment to the Director of Equal Opportunity/Title IX Coordinator. This is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to an Area Coordinator. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Student staff, including but not limited to Resident Assistants, office assistants, and other student employees within the assigned residence hall. Core Duties: * 1. Provide general day-to-day management of the assigned residence hall(s) to create and maintain a strong residential community environment of equity, diversity, and inclusion that is safe and conducive to student learning. 2. Develop and implement intentional programs, services, and activities that will meet the unique needs of all student populations. 3. Utilize diversity, equity, and social justice practices to promote student success. 4. Supervise and evaluate assigned staff including conducting regular one-on-one meetings, staff meetings, and in-service training. 5. Serve as a primary Case Resolution Coordinator for community standards matters. 6. Responsible for the daily and seasonal student transition operations of the Residence Hall(s) including building opening/closing, coding of access cards, monitoring of room condition reports and room changes, follow-up on work orders, and damage billing. 7. Coordinate resident assistant community programming, including management of the programming budget. 8. Serve in on-duty rotation for after-hours, holidays, and weekend response to critical issues including assessment and intervention of behavior in violation of university polices, as well as physically responding to all residence halls when needed. 9. Assist in maintaining the safety and security of residents and the residence hall(s) during emergency situations. 10. Make referrals to appropriate academic and/or administrative departments as necessary. 11. Be knowledgeable of and enforce university policies and procedures. 12. Hold regular office hours to be visible and available to students, creating a safe and inclusive environment where students can ask questions, raise concerns, and seek support. 13. Conduct regular health and safety inspections as scheduled. 14. Conduct weekly walk-through inspections of assigned areas to build community and assess damage/vandalism. 15. Participate in recruitment, selection, and training of paraprofessional staff members. 16. Coordinate daily office operations for the RA and RD office within assigned residence hall. 17. Attend all staff meetings and professional development sessions as determined by the office of Residence Life and Housing and/or the division of Student Life. 18. Provide written on-duty reports and annual reports as requested by Residence Life and Housing and/or Student Life. 19. Plan and implement assessment efforts that inform data-driven decision-making for the programs, services, and activities. 20. Facilitate summer orientation and enrollment management programs. 21. Assist with the management of break and summer housing programs. 22. Serve as a coordinator for assigned summer conference programs; including housing assignments, and billing. 23. Maintain social media outlets for your assigned community (including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and Engage BSU accounts). 24. Serve on university committees as assigned. 25. Previous residence hall-focused employment or student leadership experience. 3. Ability to work collaboratively with a diversity of people, thoughts, perspective, and practices. 4. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, as well as autonomously. 6. Supervisory experience. 7. Experience incorporating inclusive practices, social and racial justice practices, as well as civic engagement into residence life programming. 8. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Ability to use and learn Microsoft Suite. 2. Experience in a unionized environment. 3.
