State of Massachusetts Clerk VI - OCCC in Bridgewater, Massachusetts

Duties: The non-negotiable annual salary for this position is $50,924.12 (NAGE Unit 1, Grade 16, Step 1) Support staff to the administration (or where assigned) in accordance with Department of Corrections Vision, Mission, and Core values. Major job duties consist of preparing memorandums and reports as needed. Record and distribute meeting minutes when needed. Maintain several databases daily. Open and correspond to incarcerated individuals mail in a timely fashion. Correspondence with incarcerated individuals and staff. Maintaina professional relationship with department staff andmust be willing to communicate with local and state agencies and incarcerated individuals’ visitors.Excellent word processing and proofreading skills. Knowledge of Department of Correction policies and procedures. Ability to work independently and have excellent organizational skills. Must have general knowledge of office equipment, maintaining files, answering phones, scheduling meetings and ordering supplies. Other duties as assigned.* *Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of the DOC rules and regulations. Ability to understand legal terminology. Ability to prioritize a large workload for the staff members. Knowledge of operations of other departments in the institution through training programs and interrelated activities. Strong organizational skills, related experience in background as well as some background knowledge of the criminal justice system. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents. Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, of which (B) at least two years must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity, or (C) an equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below: ''I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. * ''II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience. * '' III. A diploma for completion of a one year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum or one year of the required experience. * '' IV.
