State of Massachusetts Peer Support Leader in Braintree, Massachusetts
_AGENCY_: Disabled Persons Protection Commission _TITLE_: Peer Support Leader _POSITION_: Contracted, Part-Time, Grant Funded _SALARY_: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour * Key Perks:* * __Engage in meaningful work that supports survivors of sexual assault/abuse * Thoughtful work/life balance – 15 hours per week maximum * Hybrid work schedule * Earned sick time __ _OVERVIEW:_ The Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) protects adults with disabilities from the abusive acts or omissions of their caregivers. The Sexual Assault Response (SAR) Team provides support to individuals with disabilities who are survivors of sexual assault and or abuse. _GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES_ Peer-to-peer mentor services, led by individuals with disabilities who are survivors of sexual assault and or abuse. Promoting education and awareness in their communities to increase sexual abuse/assault response knowledge and improve services for individuals with disabilities. * *First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. * * _DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES_ * Teach self-care awareness. * Provide peer-to-peer mentor support to persons with disabilities who have experienced sexual abuse/assault. * Promoting education and awareness in their communities. * Assist with leading community awareness events, groups, and classes. * Assist in creating accessible outreach materials such as PowerPoint presentations and learning visual aids. * Participate in weekly, monthly, and as-needed meetings with the supervisor, navigator, and community partners. * Other duties as assigned. _PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS _ * Ability to work with others in a peer support/mentor capacity. * Ability to work in an office setting. * Familiarity with basic computer skills and other technology devices to perform job duties. For example: email, completing weekly timesheet, using Word and PowerPoint, with assistance. * Experience as a survivor of sexual assault and or abuse. * Ability to communicate and present in front of groups to help educate about sexualabuse/assault. * Ability to travel (approximately 15% of the time) _Additional Information:_ This position is grant funded by Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), and is a part-time contract employee, non-benefit position working up to 15 hours per week. All employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis and must have direct deposit. State and federal taxes will be withheld. In addition, the contractor must participate in the Alternative Retirement Program, “OBRA”, mandated by federal law. State benefits such as paid Holidays, Vacation & Personal leave are not available.This position is located at the DPPC office in Braintree.
