SMX is seeking an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Liaison Officer (LNO) Subject Matter Expert (SME) in contracted aviation surveillance operations with extensive military operations and Combatant Command (COCOM) experience who will serve on a rotational basis as the LNO to support UAS missions while deployed with the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)’s.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Liaison to the MEU
Work directly with the SMX Technical Direction Letter (TDL) Project/Program Manager to provide updates, generate reports, and answer data calls as required
Serve as the point of contact between the UAS support team and the multiple components of the MEU while deployed
Use SME knowledge and skills to assess the current utilization of the mission and UAS system while deployed. The liaison will also provide direction/advice when issues arise regarding mission, personnel, and ability to support
Perform gap analysis of current operational use and operation capabilities of the UAS mission sets
Perform Liaison duties for deployed aircrew and manage customer expectations while deployed
Required Clearance: Secret
Ability to work long duration rotational shifts (nominally 12 hours/day, 7 days/week) for upwards of 7 months while deployed at sea
10+ years of military, aviation, or Contractor Owned Contractor Operated (COCO) experience
Familiarity with unmanned systems of various categories
Familiarity with Military/Contractor Operations
Multi-tasker with ability to work with little or no guidance
SME in Contracted Surveillance Operations and Airspace
Ability to communicate effectively with Senior Officers and leadership at all levels
3+ years of recent COCOM experience
Background in supporting UAS
Experience working manned and/or unmanned aviation operations activities/Operations Superintendent
