Your Opportunity
Stantec’s New England Transportation group has an immediate need for a talented, team focused Senior Transportation Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in roadway/highway design. The position is location flexible between our Auburn NH, Quincy MA, Boston MA, or Burlington MA offices and hybrid work. This position is for an individual looking to challenge themselves on a variety of transportation projects. You will have an opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and diverse transportation projects in the region.
We are looking for a Civil Engineer who has a positive attitude, self-motivated, is a fast learner, and enjoys working in a team environment. The successful candidates will join a growing team of transportation professionals and play a lead role in the highway design component of large and small roadway and bridge projects throughout Massachusetts. The position has the potential to lead to project management.
Your Key Responsibilities
Design roadways in accordance with AASHTO and MassDOT specifications and CAD Standards using AutoCAD Civil 3D
Develop and oversee design plans and calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates
Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as design memos and Design Justification Workbooks
Collaborate with team members, other disciplines and offices, and sub-consultants
Perform field investigations and construction phase services support
Interact with and present project designs to clients, agencies, and the public
Thorough understanding of project tasks within the overall project schedule, budgeting, and available resources
Mentor and coach junior engineers on transportation design and AutoCAD Civil 3D
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Working knowledge of AASHTO and MassDOT design standards
Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Subassembly Composer
Ability to lead or assist leading a team through all phases of project document production
Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members
Strong oral and written communication skills in both office and virtual environments
Pro-active attitude, attention to detail, punctual, and organized
Excellent time-management skills
Comprehensive approach to challenges and problem-solving
Experience with Microsoft Project a plus
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Massachusetts
Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in design with project management experience a plus.
Position will primarily work in an office or virtual setting; may require some field work.
