Purpose
To execute through administration, technical and management techniques, design, and direction of transportation projects to ensure the successful completion, on time and within allocated budget. Develop sustainable transportation solutions to make communities more livable by reducing traffic congestion, preserving and restoring open space, supporting local development, and improving safety for all users.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff as a key component to the development of future Project and Senior Project Managers.
At the Operational and Company Level
Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements.
Support other disciplines with traffic engineering expertise.
Supervise and monitor client relationship strategies, acting as primary client contact on assigned projects and maintaining client satisfaction.
Lead regular project staff meetings.
Assist with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
Do the Work
Manage projects or direction of transportation tasks on projects and monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget.
May assist with budgeting, staffing, scheduling and client management tasks.
Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules.
Assist in definition of scope of assigned transportation projects and develop plan to accomplish projects.
Monitor progress toward deliverable schedules and compile project status reports.
Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems and provide technical quality control of multiple assigned projects.
Prepare client presentations and attend public meetings,
Review plans and prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
Review project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and other factors.
Review job cost sheets, assist with preparation of monthly billings/project invoices, and ensure assigned projects stay with budget.
Serve as liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on project issues including technical requirements, completion requirements, and billing inquiries.
Participate in the preparation of proposals and lead major submission on large projects.
Supervise work of project staff to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards.

Experience with the preparation of construction plans and/or studies for roadway or transportation projects.
Experience directing tasks and performing QA/QC.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required.
Ten or more (10+) years of professional engineering experience with an emphasis on transportation engineering or related field.
Demonstrated experience leading professional engineering projects with transportation engineering projects required.
Experience with transportation strongly preferred.
EIT Registration required.
Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or ability to receive within six (6) months strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site strongly preferred.
Proficient knowledge of computer aided software such as Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, VISSIM, SIDRA, and BlueBeam.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
Mobility around an office environment.
Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Occasional outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
