Position Summary

You will be in a critical role on the Identity & Access Management Center of Excellence (CoE) team at Bain. The Product Owner/Manager owns the "what" of the solution that is being developed by the Identity & Access Management agile team. They engage with product teams, program leads, and technical managers to have broad insight into the variety of customer needs, importance and urgency in relation to their team's capabilities and capacity. This person owns backlog prioritization and ensures that the items in the backlog align with the overall vision and technical strategy for the team. They are the main point of contact between their agile team(s) and stakeholders/customers, often serving as the "voice of the customer". The person in this role will leverage their technical know-how to advocate for innovative solutions that ensure operational excellence and that delight customers.

Product/Program/CoE Team Engagement and Demand Management (50%)

  • For the Identity & Access Management CoE team, you will act as the main point of contact for stakeholders and customers; creating/owning the team intake process and ensuring deliverables are met

  • You will engage with product teams, program leads and technical manager to have broad insight into variety of customer needs, importance and urgency in relation to their team’s capabilities and capacity

  • You will work closely with the Technical Product Manager and leadership to ensure that the work in the backlog aligns with the overall vision for the team

  • You will understand the ‘what and the why’. Working on behalf of those requestors to explain requirements to the team

  • You will understand company strategy and department priorities to inform prioritization of requests (external and internal to the Identity & Access Management CoE team) to minimize overall lead time for work getting delivered

  • You will build relationships at varying levels of the organization, including but not limited to, Product Owners and other Technical Product Owners, and other subject matter experts

  • You will represent the team in scaling meetings that enable coordination and planning across TSG teams

  • You will translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences

  • You will establish and cultivate relationships created through interactions with their customers

Solution Delivery (50%)

  • You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the team's backlog which includes requests from product/program/CoE teams, technical initiatives and operational items

  • You will detail out user stories and acceptance criteria for the team; collaborates with team to clarify stories as needed

  • You will ruthlessly prioritize all product backlog items to minimize average lead time on work requests

  • You will apply knowledge of technologies and the business to help solve unique and complex problems

  • You will communicate timing and scope

  • You will review and assesses completion and delivery of work to customers

  • You will lead specific team meetings and empowers the team to test and learn

  • You will lead showcase meetings that give the team opportunity to share their work with customers and stakeholders and for audience to share feedback

  • You will work with the team to monitor metrics to ensure team is working on the right things and to calibrate the scope of the team’s work if needed


Bachelor’s degree required with focus in Business and/or computer related field preferred. 5-8 years of progressive experience with 3-5 years’ experience in a product strategy role or requirements role . Also 3+ years’ working with technical teams is required. Experience with agile development and writing user stories; Product Owner Certification preferred. Experience in a professional services environment and experience with Identity & Access Management (access governance, single sign on, multi factor authentication, privileged access management, etc.) is strongly preferred.

Strong communication skills, can explain complex requirements to engineering team or propose strategic direction to leadership team. Proven critical thinker and subject matter expert, highly valued within a team and throughout an organization. Ability to influence cross-functional teams and create a consensus between stakeholders. Ability to develop productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical partners, across all levels of the organization. Ability to understand complex business needs, competitive offerings, and industry trends and translate them to customer-facing solutions. High performance standards as demonstrated by academic or previous job experience needed. Demonstrated aptitude for digital dexterity and agility. Proficient with agile methodologies and demonstrated continuous improvement mindset is required.

Ability to tell a story through a Powerpoint deck is strongly desired in this role.
