ManpowerGroup Systems Engineer II in Boston, Massachusetts

Our client is looking for Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the robotics deployment team. They oversee the installation, troubleshooting, integration, and commissioning of robotics equipment in new and existing fulfillment centers (FCs). This field engineering-based position demands strong technical skills for deploying robotic equipment, including working with mechanical systems, electrical, configuring networking, and coordinating software systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with complex electro-mechanical and network systems. They should also demonstrate leadership in the installation, maintenance, upgrade, or troubleshooting of these systems.

1. Robotics & Complex Electro-Mechanical Systems Expertise

Proficiency in deploying and troubleshooting robotic systems, including mechanical, electrical, and networked components. Hands-on experience with complex electro-mechanical systems and robotic components is critical.

2. Field Engineering & Project Coordination

Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, field-based environments, particularly in construction or warehouse settings. Strong leadership to oversee a team of 1-5 engineers during deployments and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

3. Technical Documentation & Data-Driven Decision-Making

Expertise in reading, developing, and writing technical documentation and process instructions. Strong analytical skills to collect data, generate reports, and use business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau) for decision-making and project status tracking.

Critical Skills:

• Proficiency in reading, developing technical documentation, and writing process instructions

• Experience handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, field-based construction or warehouse environment

• Must be proficient in standard office software tools and processes

• Expertise in robotics, complex electro-mechanical systems, and networked engineering, including knowledge of robotic components and software

• Strong initiative and ability to work independently while reporting to leadership

• Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions and data reporting on project status and technology deployments

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

• Ability to capture lessons learned, conduct retrospective reviews, and drive continuous improvement projects

• Capability to function independently, manage a team of 1-5 engineers and related trades during deployments

• Proficiency in integrated schedule management to coordinate with different teams both within and outside of the robotics deployment team

• Ability to oversee and resolve escalations during robotics deployment including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, monitoring system performance, etc.

• Responsible for delivering projects by owning key performance indicators related to on-time delivery, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability

• Understanding data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data-driven decisions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in Engineering or closely related STEM field

• 3+ years working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems

• 2+ years’ experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models to resolve on-site clash issues using 3D clash detection reports

• 2+ years working in a field setting including construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environment

• 1+ year experience with troubleshooting robotics systems or other complex mechanical-electrical or networked systems to resolve escalations including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, monitoring system performance, etc.

• 1+ years’ experience with business intelligence and data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Tableau).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)

• Experience in a role with a minimum of 50% travel

• Ability to demonstrate past use of data to drive decision-making processes

• Familiarity with LEAN or Six Sigma. Certifications are a plus

• Ability to take independent initiative when presented with a business need
