Boston Properties Systems Administrator in Boston, Massachusetts

Primary Purpose of Position:

This position provides day-to-day administration and user support of BXP’s suite of enterprise applications. Maintains security and systems controls. Performs analysis, application development, and implementation support on new initiatives.

Essential Functions:

Maintenance & Support

  • Working as part of a collaborative team, is the first responder to daily user inquiries. Troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate problems. Primary liaison with vendors and/or internal resources to achieve appropriate technical and product-level support.

  • Responsible for on-boarding/off-boarding users across several applications.

  • Contribute to Applications Group project initiatives.

  • Support company initiatives to implement and maintain SaaS solutions.

Security, Integrity Reports & System Controls

  • Maintain user and group profiles. Audit security profiles.

  • Manage integrity reports. Troubleshoot and resolve integrity issues.

  • Monitor incidents and changes related to security, system objects, and integrity reports.

Application Development

  • Test new applications, configurations, and enhancements. Coordinate testing with business users.

  • Develop reports and dashboards. Assist others using reporting and dashboarding tools.

  • Following guidelines and controls, promote new packages and versions to production environments.

  • Integrate and support third party applications and tools.

Reporting and Data Services

  • Manage and administer reporting services in Crystal Enterprise.

  • Implement controls and security strategies to safeguard corporate data. Develop operating procedures and routines to monitor usage and integrity of reports.

  • Coordinate and chair monthly reporting change management meetings between IS and the business requestors.

Implementation & Training

  • Prepare supporting documentation and training materials for new applications/initiatives.

  • Conduct quality control to ensure new applications are properly transitioned into production.

Internal Operations

  • Research new technologies, products, or solutions.

  • Maintain documentation in accordance with policies and control requirements.

    Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Proven ability to provide remote based and in-person support for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Proven ability to interact with all levels of employees.

  • Shows commitment to and proficiency in customer service culture. Exhibits and champions excellence in work habits and a willingness to embrace change.

  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively, independently, and as part of a team is essential.

  • Possess an aptitude toward learning technical concepts. Be results-oriented and a quick learner in supporting new products and technologies.

  • Mindset to “think outside the box” and contribute ideas as we constantly make existing processes more efficient.

  • Understands or willing to learn relational database concepts, database architecture, and data access tools. SQL skills a plus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Be able to travel and to work flexible schedules outside normal business hours when required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach and use arms to perform tasks as well as push and pull objects and grasp with hands, occasionally work in a tightly spaced area.

  • Regularly use fingers to type or write as needed.

  • Frequently required to sit, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, balance, climb stairs and ladders.

  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

  • Involves movement between departments to facilitate work.

Internal and External Contacts:

  • This position regularly interacts in both verbal and written form with employees and contractors of BXP.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports to the Applications Manager or to the Director, Applications who provides supervision, guidance, and evaluates work performance on a periodic basis.
